How much Marine Phytoplankton to Take???

Dosage

How much marine phytoplankton you take should be based on the results you are looking for from this product. People take the capsules or powder, for different reasons. Some people are already fairly healthy and are just looking for a healthy product to their already tight regimen. Because they are simply looking to add the health benefits of marine phytoplankton, they may not need to take the same dosage as someone who is overweight and looking to lose weight. They also may need to take the marine phytoplankton for a longer period of time, so to make the weight loss process a healthy one. The people who suffer from different disease like cancer or Alzheimer’s disease can benefit from taking marine phytoplankton, but should consult with their medical professional to identify the best dosage to help their particular ailment.

Frequency

How often you should take the marine phytoplankton is sort of in line with the amount you should take to best aid in your health goals. However, it has been shown that people who are overweight, and/or people who are considered quite unhealthy can benefit greatly from taking the marine phytoplankton daily for 3 to 6 months. Taking the marine phytoplankton daily will help to ensure your body gets all the nutritional benefits marine phytoplankton provides.  For those who are using the marine phytoplankton to help with their weight loss goals many users have found that 3 grams a day for 3 to 6 months had a positive impact on their weight loss and aided in their process. Everyone’s body is different, but people must be consistent in taking the capsules are powder, which can also help to create other healthy habits.

Marine Phytoplankton Capsules

Capsules are always going to be a great way to take your supplements. They can be transported easily, put in your pocket or purse, and taken when necessary. Many people realize it is easier for them to remain on schedule if they are taking the capsule form of the marine phytoplankton. The capsules each contain 330 milligrams of pure marine phytoplankton, and there are 90 capsules available in one bottle of marine phytoplankton by Phyto4life. These capsules can be taken with juice or water, and is free from containments and heavy metals. Many companies add fillers and cutting agents to the marine phytoplankton so they can create more capsules. These capsules are one hundred percent marine phytoplankton and you do not have to worry about consuming anything that is hazardous to your body.

 MP Powder

The marine phytoplankton powder is very similar to the capsules in that it has the same vitamins and minerals found in the capsules. There is nothing lost in the marine phytoplankton powder making process and it is also one hundred percent marine phytoplankton without additives, filling, or cutting agents. Some people are not pill or capsule people, and that is ok. It is easier for them to take powders and things they can mix into their beverages or sprinkle over food. There are users who have a pouch of marine phytoplankton at home as well as the place they work so they don’t have to be concerned with transporting the powder, and are also able to stay on their marine phytoplankton regimen.  Again, with the powder there is the option to sprinkle over food. It is not recommended that you cook with it, but use on top of cooked food, as cooking it could aid in the loss of nutrients.

Fill In What is Missing

When person is unhealthy, overweight, or malnutrition there are going to several essential vitamins and minerals they are missing out on. Nutritionist will tell you that exercise is great and necessary for an over healthy lifestyle, but they also known that being healthy is ninety percent of what you eat. When a person is not healthy they are definitely missing out some essential nutrients whether it is protein, essential fatty acids, vitamin B for energy, or one of the other multitudes of vitamins and minerals found in the marine phytoplankton. Taking the marine phytoplankton on a regular basis can really fill in those nutrition gaps that could be affecting your overall health or sabotaging your weight loss goals.

Keto(genic) Diet and MCT Powder

Keto Diet MCT Powder

These days, you’ll find a plethora of users sharing their experiences with the Keto Diet on social media. But the Keto/Ketogenic Diet is far from a new “fad diet”; it’s been around for quite some time. In this article, we investigate what MCTs are and what role MCT Powder has in a Keto Diet.

So – what is it?

The Ketogenic Diet is a very low carb, high fat diet that has been used by doctors since the 1920’s to treat patients with serious illnesses, like intractable epilepsy and rare disorders of carbohydrate metabolism.

In recent years, the Keto Diet has been gaining more and more attention. The diet promotes weight loss by forcing the body to burn fat for energy. These days, a wider audience is considering trying the Keto Diet, including those interested in benefits beyond weight loss.

The Keto Diet offers a range of health benefits, like a reduced risk for diabetes, increased energy and protection against age-related neurological diseases.

MCTs and the Keto Diet

If you are new to the Keto Diet, you may be wondering what MCT stands for. MCT stands for Medium Chain Triglyceride.

To understand what MCTs are, you need to know a bit more about dietary fat in general.

Dietary fat is made up of fatty acids and these can be classified as short, medium or long-chain, depending on their length.

Most of the fat in the foods we consume is a form of triglycerides, which are made up of 3 fatty acids.

These triglycerides can be classified as short, medium or long-chained. A long-chained triglyceride contains 3 long chain fatty acids; a medium-chained triglyceride contains 3 medium chain fatty acids; and a short-chained triglyceride contains 3 short chain fatty acids.

How your body processes triglycerides

There is a difference in how your body processes Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT) compared to Long Chain Triglycerides (LCT).

1. Digestion and absorption

MCTs are shorter in length, and are therefore more easily digested and absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract than LCTs.

2. Transportation

Once dietary fat is absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract, the body must then transport it to the liver where it is metabolized to produce energy. MCTs are transported directly from the gastrointestinal tract through the bloodstream to the liver. In comparison, LCTs must take a longer route through the lymphatic system then through the circulatory system before finally reaching the the liver.

3. Metabolism

The metabolism of MCTs is unique as well. Fat metabolism occurs in the mitochondria of the liver. LCTs require a substance called carnitine to enter the mitochondria, however MCTs can enter mitochondria freely so they are not limited by the presence of carnitine.

How is MCT used in the Ketogenic Diet?

Let’s circle back to MCT powder. Remember that the Ketogenic Diet works by switching the body’s metabolism from using glucose for energy to using fat for energy, which produces high amounts of ketones in the body.

The unique features of MCTs make it useful with the Ketogenic Diet because MCTs are capable of producing more ketones than regular fat (which is mostly LCT).

Although a small number of foods contain a percentage of MCTs (such as coconut oil, palm kernel oil, and butter fat), pure MCT oil is not found naturally.

This is where MCT Deoiled Powder comes in. Incorporating high amounts of MCTs into the diet allows users to stay in ketosis while consuming relatively higher amounts of protein and carbohydrates.

MCT Powder

This supplement is ideal for any person who is on a low-carb diet/Keto Diet or wants to attain the benefits of medium chain triglycerides.

MCT powder can be used anytime you want to add ketone boosting fats to your diet. It can be added to protein shakes, hot chocolate, soups, sauces and baked goods.

When you do high-intensity workouts, you can add them to your water to give you some extra mental and physical energy.

MCT can also be used when fasting. Sure, you do add calories during this time, but these are burned off rapidly. They also provide you with mental clarity and energy until the fast is over. If you’re tired during a fasting, add a little MCT powder to your water to kickstart your metabolism.

It doesn’t matter why you choose to use MCT powder because it’s effective and easy to use.

Derived from Non GMO rapeseed oil and Non GMO palm oil, Mr. Ros MCT powder offers all incredible benefits of coconut MCT but without causing any distress on your stomach.

Talking about algae — What’s the difference between Chlorella, Spirulina and Marine Phytoplankton?

Benefits of Marine Phytoplankton

What’s the difference between Marine Phytoplankton and other algae? This is a question we get asked a LOT. The internet is flooded with algae supplements. Left and right you hear names like Chlorella, Spirulina and Marine Phytoplankton.

First: what are algae?

Algae encompass several groups of relatively simple living aquatic organisms that capture light through photosynthesis, which is used to convert inorganic substances into organic matter.

Fresh water algae versus ocean algae

That’s the first major difference between the three. Unlike other fresh water algae like Chlorella or Spirulina (blue green algae), Marine Phytoplankton is an ocean algae that has access to all the mineral rich nutrients of the sea.

Fresh water can simply not provide the same minerals as what ocean water provides by nature. Ocean water is a thousand times more mineral rich then fresh water.

Foundation of the Food Chain

Because of this nutrient dense ocean water, Marine Phytoplankton is also dubbed “Foundation of the Food Chain”. It provides all the essential nutrients to life on this planet and plays a key role in the oceanic food web.

Almost all marine life is dependent on phytoplankton. For example: zooplankton eat phytoplankton; Fish eat the zooplankton; Seals, sharks and birds eat the fish.

Marine Phytoplankton is the origin of all plankton. It contains pigments that are unique and are not found in other plant material. It is these pigments that are so beneficial to human health.

Spirulina

Spirulina is a blue-green algae and is classified as Cyanobacteria. This simple, one-celled form of algae grows in warm freshwater environments, and is distantly related to kelp algae (but is not a sea plant).

It thrives in freshwater ponds and lakes which are notably more alkaline than ordinary lakes. Spirulina cannot sustain any other forms of microorganisms and is much like terrestrial plants, except that it does not have a cellulose cell wall.

Chlorella

This unicellular green algae is found in still freshwater, soil or bar of trees. It has a strong cell wall that prevents its native form from being adequately broken down, and absorbed by the human digestive system. For Chlorella, special processing is required to break its cell wall, so it’s suitable for the human digestive system.

6 Health Benefits of MCT Oil Powder (#2 is Life-Saving)

Benefits of MCT Oil Powder

MCT Oil Powder…. surely you must’ve heard about it, but for those who haven’t: ‘MCT’ stands for Medium-chain Triglycerides. It’s a form of saturated fatty acid that has numerous health benefits, ranging from improved cognitive function to better weight management and a healthy gut.

MCTs can be found in coconut oil (roughly 62% of fatty acids in coconut oil are MCTs), but the more concentrated and neutral tasting MCT Oil Powder is rapidly growing in popularity.

MCTs are largely missing from standard Western diets

Years ago, nutritional ‘experts’ were pointing out the dangers that all forms of saturated fats posed for our health and wellbeing. As a result, saturated fats are largely avoided by most people.

However, recent research has shown a lot of evidence about the real truth regarding saturated fats. The study showed that there was very little evidence to support the contention that a diet low in cholesterol and saturated fat actually reduces death from heart disease or in any way increases one’s life span. (Framingham Heart Study)

We now know that saturated fats actually offer a lot of benefits:

  • Saturated fatty acids constitute at least 50% of the cell membranes. They are what gives our cells necessary stiffness and integrity.
  • They play a vital role in the health of our bones. For calcium to be effectively incorporated into the skeletal structure, at least 50% of the dietary fats should be saturated.
  • They lower Lp(a), a substance in the blood that indicates proneness to heart disease.
  • They protect the liver from alcohol and other toxins, such as Tylenol.
  • They enhance the immune system.
  • They are needed for the proper utilization of essential fatty acids. Elongated omega-3 fatty acids are better retained in the tissues when the diet is rich in saturated fats.
  • Saturated 18-carbon stearic acid and 16-carbon palmitic acid are the preferred foods for the heart, which is why the fat around the heart muscle is highly saturated. The heart draws on this reserve of fat in times of stress.
  • Short- and medium-chain saturated fatty acids have important antimicrobial properties. They protect us against harmful microorganisms in the digestive tract. The scientific evidence, honestly evaluated, does not support the assertion that “artery- clogging” saturated fats cause heart disease. Actually, evaluation of the fat in artery clogs reveals that only about 26% is saturated. The rest is unsaturated, of which more than half is polyunsaturated.

Ideally, MCT oils should be consumed every day. MCTs are actually easier to digest than long-chain triglycerides (LCTs) and might have more benefits to heart health, obesity prevention and brain health, too.

MCT Oil Powder — 6 Benefits for your health

#1 MCT Oil Powder can help with weight loss and maintenance

MCT oil powder is known to have a positive effect on weight loss and the rate your body burns fat at. It can also help increase satiety and raise the metabolic rate at which the body functions. (The Journal of Obesity and Related Metabolic Disorders, 2001 and 2003)

#2 MCT Oil Powder can help protect a healthy heart

MCTs can help prevent the development of metabolic syndrome, according to a 2010 study published in The Journal of Neutraceuticals and Functional Foods. MCTs can also help decrease cardiovascular disease and mortality risk in general, due to helping lower odds of becoming obese.

#3 MCT Oil Powder boosts your energy levels and mood

As the brain is largely made up of fatty acids, your daily intake of fatty acids needs to be steady in order to think clearly, perform at optimum peak and feel your best. As mentioned before, in our modern Western diet, our MCTs intake is too low. Supplementing this intake with MCT Oil Powder is believed to help improve cognitive functions. (The Journal of Neurobiology of Aging, 2004)

#4 MCT Oil Powder has antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties

MCTs play a big role in supporting a healthy gut. They are in fact powerful, natural antibiotics that help balance bacteria in the gut.

There are at least a dozen pathogenic viruses that can be killed by MCTs, like streptococcus (which causes strep throat, pneumonia and sinus infections), straphylococcus (which causes food poisoning and urinary tract infections), neisseria (which causes meningitis, gonorrhea and pelvic inflammatory diseases), and some other strains that cause stomach viruses, candida, ulcers and sexually transmitted diseases.

#5 MCT Oil Powder helps improve digestion and absorption of nutrients

This touches on what we just discussed: MCTs balances healthy bacteria in the gut, which in turn has positive effects on digestion and the ability to absorb vitamins and minerals from the foods you consume.

#6 MCT Oil Powder is versatile

Whether you use MCT oil or powder, both products are versatile as they have a neutral tast and smell. MCT oil doesn’t oxidize from heat easily and can be used in baked goods, sautes, stir-fries and grilled foods. MCT powder can me blended with all sorts of smoothies and breakfast bowls, and can even be used in dough and a nice warm cup of coffee.

What is phosphatidylserine and why should you care?

Natural Rapeseed Lecithin Powder

Most people have never heard of phosphatidylserine. But would you believe it’s actually present in every single human cell? Phosphatidylserine has a range of vital functions throughout your body (both tissues and organs), but perhaps the most important function of all is that it is a key building block for the billions of cells in your brain.

The body naturally produces Phosphatidylserine, but most of our intake comes from the food we eat. When food isn’t enough, or if we have a need for a great intake of this vital molecule, we can resort to supplements.

Phosphatidylserine is a natural treatment for Alzheimer’s disease and is also used in the treatment of age-related cognitive decline, ADHD and depression. In addition, phosphatidylserine improves athletic performance.

Not bad, right? So let’s take a closer look at phosphatidylserine.

Phosphatidylserine’s DNA

Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a phospholipid and contains both amino acids and fatty acids. EPA and DHA, two omega-3 fatty acids, work synergistically with PS to provide the building blocks for healthy cell membranes.

Phospholipids surround all of our cells and are essential molecules that provide cellular structure and protection. They consist of four components: fatty acids, a platform to which the fatty acids are attached, a phosphate and an alcohol attached to the phosphate.

Phospholipids arrange themselves in two parallel layers, known as a phospholipid bilayer. It is this layer that makes up your cell membranes and is critical to each of your cell’s ability to function.

We already mentioned that PS is critical to the maintenance of all cellular functions, particularly in the brain. But research shows that it’s also important for:

o cell repair and removal by the immune system

o coordination of heartbeat

o testicular function

o bone matrix formation

Factors that decrease phosphatidylserine levels in your body

There are factors in life that are known to decrease phosphatidylserine levels, like aging, stress, modern diets and modern food production.

Aging naturally increases your brain’s demand for phosphatidylserine. At the same time, it creates digestive and metabolic inefficiency, thus making it hard to get enough phosphatidylserine via your diet.

Stress also increases the need for phosphatidylserine in your diet and decreases your phosphatidylserine at the same time.

Modern production processes for fats and oils have decreased their natural phosphatidylserine content, making it hard to get enough phosphatidylserine intake with your food.

There are several PS-rich foods, like bovine brain, Atlantic mackerel, chicken heart, Atlantic herring, tuna, veal, beef, trout, carrots, white beans and so on.

But people on low-cholesterol, low-fat or vegetarian/vegan diets may undersupply as much as 200 to 250 milligrams per day.

Another option is to use supplements, like non-GMO organic Sunflower Lecithin Powder, Soy Lecithin Powder or Rapeseed Lecithin Powder.

Sunflower Lecithin, Soy Lecithin and Rapeseed Lecithin

These three Lecithin products contain phosphatidylserine. They’re an excellent source of choline, which helps provide structure and fluidity to cell membranes.

Lecithin powders help the body in various ways – improvement in cholesterol levels, circulatory system and nervous system, to name a few.

All three variations offer a mild, neutral taste and are an effective emulsifier, helping blend two different liquids which are otherwise incapable to mix. These two unique properties allow for ease of use in day-to-day food, ranging from gravies, salads and cakes to smoothies and dough, without altering its taste. Lecithin’s ability to dissolve fat also makes it a popular choice of health supplement for those planning to lose some weight.

Moreover, of the numerous benefits, it helps keep a check on your blood pressure, improves cognitive function and heart health, helps keep your body cells healthy (lecithin is a key component of every cell in body).

Rapeseed Lecithin Powder offers all the benefits of Soy Lecithin Powder, but eliminates any risk of allergies, which are widely associated with Soy Lecithin Powder. It’s also less prone to oxidation and therefore offers more stability.

Rapeseed Lecithin Powder is extremely rich in oleic acid, about 50 to 60% of total fatty acids against 25% in Soy and 15% in Sunflower.

6 Health Benefits of Phosphatidylserine

1. Phosphatidylserine may improve symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease

Research shows that phosphatidylserine supplements may increase levels of brain chemicals involved with memory and improve brain cell communication.

2. Aids the slowing down of age-related cognitive decline

Phosphatidylserine from bovine brain phospholipids has show to improve memory, cognition and mood in the elderly.

3. Phosphatidylserine is effective in the treatment of depression

Research has shown that phosphatidylserine positively affects the levels of neurotransmitters in the brain that are related to mood.

4. Phosphatidylserine may improve symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease

Phosphatidylserine is essential to proper functioning of the brain. Research has shown that people with Parkinson’s often have low levels of phosphatidylserine.

5. Phosphatidylserine can treat ADHD symptoms

People with ADHD can benefit from phosphatidylserine as it increases mental focus, memory and cognition. It also boosts the mood and relives stress through a reduction of cortisol levels.

6. Phosphatidylserine boosts athletic performances

Studies have shown that phosphatidylserine is key in optimized athletic performances.

Recipe for Acai Bowl with Strawberries & Banana

Acai bowl recipe

Acai bowls…..they’re definitely a hype. But what’s so great about a smoothie that you can eat from a bowl? Well, a lot!

This seemingly minor change-up from glass to bowl, is exactly what makes an acai bowl so special. Because it’s in a bowl, topped with all sorts of goodies, it asks you to take it slow, and spoon and savor each and every bite.

Acai powder adds that bit of oomph to an otherwise more-or-less-standard fruit and nut drink. And don’t get us started about the toppings: the options are endless!

Here is one of our favorite acai bowl recipes for breakfast or brunch.

Acai Bowl with Strawberries & Banana

Ingredients (yield: serves 1)

1 cup of frozen strawberries
1 frozen sliced banana
2 tablespoons acai powder
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 tablespoon nut or seed butter
1/2 tablespoon honey (more or less to taste)

Toppings

Your pick of fresh fruit, sliced. We used bananas, strawberries and raspberries in this recipe.
Bee pollen
Clear, runny honey
Granola
Unsweetened coconut flakes
Dried goji berries
Chia or hemp seeds

Directions

Add the frozen fruits, acai powder, almond milk, nut or seed butter, and honey to a blender. Blend until creamy and smooth, adding extra almond milk as needed to get the blender running. Aim for a frozen-yogurt consistency (it should be thicker than a smoothie).

Spoon the acai mixture into bowls and top with sliced fruit, bee pollen, a drizzle of honey, and the optional toppings (if using).

Mr. Ros Wildcrafted Acai Berry Juice Powder

Our non-GMO Acai Juice Powder contains up to 30 times the level of good anthocyanins found in grapes. It’s packed with antioxidants and omega 6 and 9, and promotes skin health, a healthy digestive system and even aids in weight loss.
